Freddy Files 2016 at Ninove was the start of the aircooled season for Western Europe. This edition was named “The Happy Camper Edition”. The annual British, French, German and Dutch invasion of Belgium is officially called the Freddy Files, however more commonly known simply by its location, Ninove. Imagine a freeway full of VW’s… Well, this was real!
Because of the perfect weather it was super busy in Ninove, all parking was full and many visitors came to the city to check it out. This 19th edition of the Freddy Files 2016 was attended by the hardcore of the European VW scene. This edition was again a great success. There were over 1000 different VW’s (Beetles, busses, Karmann’s,…).
Local shop windows were filled with air-cooled paraphernalia – NOS VW parts boxes, genuine accessory wheels and all kind desirable objects – as the whole town gets in the mood. In fact, any non air-cooled car left in the town by 8am on the Sunday morning was removed by the police!
According to the organisation, there were over 5.000 to 10.000 visitors. That’s the effect that beautiful weather can have on an already popular event. We went to take a look and brought back some pictures of the cars that we like. So sit back and enjoy what the aircooled scene had to offer last sunday in Ninove.
